Frying Fish and the kitchen ~ Vis bakken en de keuken

Most of the cooking in Uganda takes place outside. When it's gonna rain you flee complete with your charcoal stove into the corridor. Of course not without danger. Time for measures! In both houses we let an outer kitchen build in Ugandan style. Fried fish is nicer than cooked. But the Ugandan tradition is cooking. We found a compromise: The cook cooks half and the children fry the other half.

Koken vindt het meest buiten plaats in Oeganda. Als het gaat regenen vlucht je compleet met je houtskoolfornuisje naar het gangetje. Natuurlijk niet zonder gevaar. Tijd voor maatregelen. In beide huizen lieten we een buitenkeuken bouwen in Oegandese stijl. Gebakken vis is lekkerder dan gekookte. Maar de Oegandese traditie is koken. We vonden een compromis: De kok kookt de helft en de kinderen bakken de andere helft.
