And then... there was the Christmas tree. Decorated with taste by our girls!

En toen was de kerstboom daar. Smaakvol opgetuigd door onze 'meiden'!

From various people we got money for christmas presents.

The ladies get new clothes for it.

Last monday they bought the fabrics.

A mother of an aunty is a tailer, she will make them.

But we also got fabrics from people from Holland.

Together with specialist 'Aunty' Arja they're gonna make skirts from it.

Van verscheidene mensen kregen we geld voor kerstcadeaus.

De dames krijgen er nieuwe kleren voor.

Afgelopen maandag kochten ze de stof.

Een moeder van een 'aunty' is kleermaker, zij gaat ze maken.

Maar we kregen ook stoffen van mensen in Nederland.

Samen met specialist 'Aunty' Arja gaan ze daar rokken van maken.

Christmas is not as alive in Uganda as it is in Europe or America, but Amecet is an island. We have had a nice Christmas Eve service an the next day a nice meal.

Kerstmis leeft niet zo in Oeganda als in Europa of Amerika, maar Amecet is een eiland. We hebben een mooie Kerstavond dienst gehad en de volgende dag een heerlijke maaltijd.

Betty's conditie was zo goed dat ze naar huis naar haar moeder kon.

Catherine wilde al een hele tijd terug naar haar famlie.

We houden een oogje op ze.

Mary back / Mary terug.............December 5

After her P7 exam Mary went for holidays to a friend in Mukono.

When she came back her room mates decorated her bed.

In February she goes to a secondary boarding school.

During her holydays she will stay in one of our spare rooms.

That is already her room now.

~

Na haar Basisschool examen is Mary op vakantie geweest bij een vriendin in Mukono.

Toen ze terugkwam hebben haar kamergenoten haar bed versierd.

In februari gaat ze naar een middelbare kostschool.

Tijdens haar vakanties zal ze in een van onze logeerkamers verblijven

Dat is nu al haar kamer.

YWAM Closing year / Jaarsluiting.....December 18

And then there was the closing of the year of our local base of

YWAM our Mother Organisation here in Soroti.

It was luckily not a big party (I don't like them at all)

All happened on the compound of Amecet n'ainapakin.

It was very nice.

En toen was daar de jaarsluiting van de plaatselijke basis van

YWAM onze moederorganisatie in Soroti.

Gelukkig was het geen 'big party' (Ik houd daar helemaal niet van)

Alles vond plaats op het terrein van Amecet n'ainapakin.

Het was erg leuk.

Since the founding of Amecet the Morning Glory is the symbol of HIV Positive children, living short but beautiful.

Since the development of ARV's the chance of survival increased enormously.

Yet the Morning Glory stays the symbol. At this picture you can see how. It climbs unto the light.

Sinds the oprichting van Amecet symboliseert de Morning Glory HIV positieve kinderen, ze leven kort maar mooi.

Sinds de ontwikkeling van aidsremmers nam de overlevingskans enorm toe.

Toch blijft de Morning Glorie symbool staan. Op de foto kun je zien hoe. hij klimt naar het licht.

Elections / Verkiezingen

In February 2011 Elections are held in Uganda.

Also our gate was misused as a billboard.
If I could I wouldn't vote for this lady.

She and her helpers do not respect private property.

In februari 2011 worden in Oeganda verkiezingen gehouden.

Ook onze poort werd misbruikt als reclamebord.

Als ik de mogelijkheid had zou ik deze dame in ieder geval niet kiezen.

Zij en haar hulpjes hebben geen respect voor andermans eigendommen.

Water cart / Waterkar

From our friends Evert & Nel who are half time in Holland and the other half live in Soroti to help to develop schools in our surrounding we got this easy water cart. Every other day David and Calvin (picture) have to get drinking water from the borehole in the neighbourhood. Their work is easier now!

Van onze vrienden Evert en Nel die voor de helft in Nederland en voor de andere helft in Soroti wonen om te helpen met de ontwikkeling van scholen in de omgeving kregen we deze handige waterkar. Om de andere dag moeten David en Calvin (foto) drinkwater halen bij de pomp in de buurt. Hun werk is nu gemakkelijker!
