Mary and the school / Mary en de school

Mary was attending the Boarding school but she wasn't happy. In the beginning we thought it was only to get used to the new situation, (If you compare life in a boarding school British style and Amecet, Amecet is a hotel) but later we discovered more problems. So the second term she's moving to a school that fits better to her. She's very glad now.

Mary zat op de kostschool maar was niet gelukkig. In het begin dachten we dat het alleen lag aan de aanpassing aan de nieuwe situatie, (Als je het leven op een kostschool Britse stijl en op Amecet vergelijkt, is amecet een hotel) maar later ontdekten we meer problemen. Dus de volgende schoolperiode verhuist ze naar een school die beter bij haar past. Ze is erg blij nu.

Political tree ~ Politieke boom

In Dutch we have an expression that means something like 'For me you can go into the tree' which means something like I'm angry with you and want to get rid of you. For politicians it is always the opposite side, but these people want their own people into the tree (the highest).

U kent de uitdrukking 'Voor mij kan je de boom in' wel. Voor politici geldt dit natuurlijk altijd voor de tegenpartij, maar voor deze mensen kunnen de medestanders de boom in (de hoogste).

Dutch Evening ~ Nederlandse Avond

Almost every Tuesday we have our Dutch Evening. everyone who is either Dutch or a bit Dutch is welcome. We eat together and talk together in our native language. Sometimes there are many but sometimes like this evening we're only three. (Me behind the camera)

Bijna elke dinsdag hebben we onze 'Dutch Evening'. Iedereen die of Nederlands of een beetje Nederlands is is welkom. We eten samen en praten samen in onze moedertaal. Soms zijn we met veel maar soms zoals deze avond zijn we alleen met z'n drieen. (Ik achter de camera)

Seniors ~ Middelbare Scholieren

All children of Amun who did the P7 Exam succeeded.

Mary of course (We didn't doubt about that) and also three of the four boys who left us in September.

We can keep on supporting them because of a fund set up by a Dutch friend of Amecet. Today the three boys came to get their certificate.

School Administrator Arja handed it to them

Alle Amun kinderen die het eindexamen 'Primary School' hebben gedaan zijn geslaagd.

Natuurlijk Mary (We twijfelden daar niet aan) en ook de drie jongens die ons in september verlieten.

We kunnen ze blijven ondersteunen door een fonds, opgericht door een nederlandse vriendin van Amecet. Vandaag kwamen de drie jongens om hun certificaat in ontvangst te memen.
